Certified Pool & Spa Operator® (CPO®)

  • What is CPO Certification

The Certified Pool & Spa Operator® (CPO®) certification program is the world’s leading education and certification program for keeping pools safer and keeping them open. Over 400,000 students have been trained since 1972.

CPO certification provides individuals with the knowledge, techniques, and skills required for proper pool operations. This course is available as both a blended training program or completely virtual (completely online), and is also eligible for IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

  • Who Offers CPO?

The CPO Certification course was developed by the National Swimming Pool Foundation, which is now the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance.

PHTA trains Instructors, who then teach the CPO Certification Course. The online course, book, and certification all come from PHTA, through a certified Instructor - in our case, Roy Vore!

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance protects and advances the common interests of the industry by providing education, advocacy, standards development, research, and market growth to increase our members’ professionalism, knowledge and profitability.

  • Am I required to get CPO Certified?

About half of the United States require CPO Certification. We recommend checking with our local Health Department to see if it’s required in your area.

  • How does it work?

Vore and Associates LLC offers the “blended format” for CPO Certification. You will take the online CPO Fusion course and a one-day, in-person class of instruction (which can also be taken as a stand-alone refresher course). Total of 14-16 hours.

You will receive the Certified Pool & Spa Operator™ Handbook to study before the class.

  • Where and when is the class?

We offer about 4 CPO Courses in the greater Atlanta Area throughout the year.

We also host a Float Tank focused course at the Float Conference each year.
